![]() As I aged it became harder to use the app on my phone. I'm back now with Movie Collector so I can have all this on my computer again. Problems - there really were none - mostly user errors. My first app was Movie Collector, then as changes were made, progressed to CLZ Movies, then Movie Connect. I could add/change/delete covers, back covers, posers and so on. ![]() It was a good way of collecting the information about each movie automatically - also allowed me to add extra information, personal observations, critics comments and so on. Then I started adding movies that I wanted to see, or looked interesting, also the "old" movies back to the thirties. I'm an inveterate collector of lots of things, but a Movie app on my PC? Had to have it! Started adding the movies I'd seen - at the cinema, on TV, on tape and DVD. ![]() I guess I've subscribed to the Movie apps for at least 10 years or so. Nevertheless, the App is great with some room for improvements, especially for comic collectors outside the US comics. Which I have to accept, even if I don't like it. Anyhow, for the - from my point of view - missing or uncomfortable functionalities I was already in contact with the support team, which mostly react very fast and explains the reasons the way it currently is and why they don't want to change them. Another negative point from my point of view is the missing functionality to enter prices in various currencies. And due to the complicated procedure to submit to core such manually entered comics, I decided to stop that and create them just for myself, which is somehow a shame in a shared economy. Due to I have to enter mostly all of my comics by myself. As an example, the available collection is specialized on US comics, comics published in german are very rare. However there are also various points I dislike, of course seeing it from my view only. Like the ways the comic list can be group and displayed, but various other features too. There are many nice things in the Comic Connect Web App. I've taken out a couple of years' subscription to it as I don't see myself stopping using it anytime soon and I'm still a long way from completing my "Library". I like the mobile app, which allows me to check to see if I have a particular title when browsing the shelves in the local second hand book shelves. Some books don't show up - these are all ones that are pre-ISBN numbering, but in most cases, searching for title or author does bring them up - even ones that are a century old. So far I have catalogued around 700 books, I'm about a 1/5 of the way through my collection. It's simple to use, have a variety of different fields, genre, subject type, tags etc so searching is very easy to do. It also shows the cover picture, which can be changed if mine is different. Putting the ISBN number in brings up the book (or books if there are reprints etc) and I just have to select the one I want. All I needed was the ISBN number (and a bar code scanner - makes life a lot easier). One feature that stood out was its database of millions of books. Found CollectorZ and it seemed to fit the bill. ![]() ![]() Soon found a spread sheet was pretty limited so decided to see what software was available. Others benefit from the glitz and glam that Hollywood brings. Some, like the 2019 movie adaptation of Little Women, play with the story or add in new scenes to appeal to a modern audience. That's why the best films based on books often feel more like a companion piece than a true retelling of a best-selling paperback. That's not a knock on Hollywood–it can be challenging to fit a novel's worth of plot and character development into a few hours of entertainment. There are very few good movies based on books.
